This week in pre-K we are learning about reptiles. They are a special kind of animal that breathes air, has a backbone, has scales or a shell or both, and is cold-blooded. Reptile babies emerge from eggs. Today we have distinguished whether some animals are reptiles or not. We have talked about a protractor and what it is used for. We showed them the difference in the angles between a human and a snake on how wide they are able to open their mouths. We talked about dinner choices with one of our read aloud, The Lizards in the Window. We discussed the food groups that were missing and what the family might add to their dinner. In math we separated items up to 10 equal groups. We displayed a 10 frame and they were able to tell us how many was on each row and that they were equal. We also connected numbers with quantity and compared them. They drew a number card and counted out that amount of counting cubes. Then they placed only 5 cubes on a 5 frame and asked how many were left. They then had to find the picture card that matched the combination they had just made.

Our 18-36m toddler class is learning about horses and cows this week, we learned that although we get our milk from a store before that we collect the milk from cows and with milk we can get ice cream and butter. Today they got to make butter, they shook the containers full of heavy cream as hard as they could and were so surprised to see the butter and butter milk after it had separated. Their little expressions were the absolute best!!
