This week in pre-K we are talking about Construction.
We have been learning new shapes, how architects use blueprints, and making our own structures with various materials. We have also been learning the names of machinery used to build new buildings as well as the steps needed to be taken in order to do so.
Toddlers learned about the gingerbread man this last week, we made cookies, smelled different ground scents, scratched cinnamon sticks on sandpaper to create ground cinnamon, and played in gingerbread cloud dough. Lots of learning fun.
This week has been busy. We have been reading about construction. The students have used blueprints and created buildings. They have used constriction vehicles in the sand and labeled the order of constructing a home.
High school students enjoyed an ice cream sundae & dessert bar today to celebrate being 1 of only 14 high schools in the state to receive an "A" on their school report card from the Arkansas Department of Education.

Lexi Loftin, a 6th grader won the Junior High Region Stock Market Game! She will receive $125 and be honored at a banquet at the Clinton Library in Little Rock. Congratulations Lexi!

The SMS 6th Grade Quiz Bowl Team placed 2nd today in the Northeast Co-op Tournament. So proud of them! Cohen Hall, Luci King, Alyssa Clark, James Wheat, Alex Green, Braylon Slagley and Taylin Pilgrim. Thanks to Ms. Danielle and Ms. Tammy for coaching as Ms. Luann is out sick.
The 5th and 6th grade boys and girls basketball games scheduled for Saturday, December 9th, has been canceled. These games will be rescheduled for a later date.

This week we have been talking about opposites and have completed Venn Diagrams to see like letters in our friend's name. Our STEAM project was to design a bridge. A couple of them have designed a bridge.
