Swifton Middle School and Tuckerman High School have been recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas as schools where students demonstrated high growth on the ATLAS!

The OEP creates an annual report entitled the Outstanding Educational Performance Awards which recognizes schools with high student academic growth. We think growth is the best indicator of the positive impact that your school is having on students.

Swifton Middle School received the following awards:

Jordan Watson and Easton McGuire represented the THS boys golf program in the state tournament today. Jordan carded a 93 today while Easton shot an even 100. Both look forward to returning next year to help the full squad qualify for state as a team.

9-12th grade GT students enjoyed a trip to Crystal Bridges Museum, Arkansas Air and Military Museum, the Walmart Museum, the campus of the U of A, and Modern Missions Activities. Thank you Administration and School Board for a great learning experience.

We had such a fun week in Pre-K! We learned about relatives and family, practiced our subitizing skills, and worked hard on counting and other math activities. Then we wrapped up the week with a family picnic on the playground!

The THS girls golf team competed in the 2A state tournament today. They finished in 3rd place with a team score of 322, which was 34 strokes better than last year! Taryn Sink was the overall medalist for the second consecutive year by shooting an 83 today. She will advance to play in the Overall Championship on October 16th.

Last week, Mrs Rowlett's 3rd grade Science class explored inheritance and created creatures out of clay by observing traits they decoded from their creature parents. They then investigated how offspring have similar traits to their parents but not always to each other.

Yesterday, the THS golf teams had their conference tournament at the Golf Course on Turkey Mountain In Horseshoe Bend. Our boys team finished in 4th place, 6 strokes away from advancing to the state tournament as a team. Jordan Watson and Easton McGuire both finished in the top 7 overall and will be advancing to the boys state tournament as individuals in two weeks.

The girls team finished in 1st place to repeat as back to back conference champions. Taryn Sink led the way with a round of 82 finishing as the medalist for the 12th time this season. Taryn, Karlee Penix, Emily Gates, and Emeri Baughn advance to the state tournament next Tuesday in Glenwood.
