Dear Parents/Guardians:
We at JCSD are still fighting to keep the students and staff wellbeing our top priority. In order for us to achieve this we must all work together. We must follow all of the rules and regulations set forth by the CDC and AR Dept of Health. We ask that you review the recommendations:
1. If anyone in the house is tested for COVID - then all members of the household must quarantine until all of the results are received. This means that your student should not be sent to school if anyone is sick and going to be tested. Notify the Schools Point of Contact and wait for further instructions. Please do not send students to school until you have been advised it is safe to do so.
2. If anyone in the household tests positive - all the household members must quarantine for the full 14 days. Notify the POC and you will be given instructions on how your student will continue their learning from home and you will be given return dates for your student. Please do not send students to school until you have been advised it is safe to do so.
3. If anyone in the household comes in contact with a known positive case - notify POC and you will be directed on whether it is safe for your child to return to school. We have had an increase in students that have been exposed to family members that test positive that requires parents to come to school and pick up their students. In doing so, you are potentially exposing other students to COVID. Our goal is to protect staff and students from exposure to limit the spread of the virus.
4. The POC works closely with your students' teacher(s), tech support, and principals to make sure that every effort is made to meet the needs of students and family during this time. We are here to help in the transition to virtual learning and back to onsite learning.
We are aware of the new articles about the CDC “shortening the quarantine requirements” but at this time the Arkansas Dept of Health is still requiring the mandatory 14 day for quarantine and 10 day isolation for positive cases.
Our Point of Contact for JCSD is Stacy Bright and you may reach her at 870-349-2657 ext 210 or she can be reached by email at sbright@bulldogs.k12.ar.us.
We at JCSD would like to thank you for your continued support in our fight against COVID!
Thank you!

As part of a coordinated response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) in partnership with the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas has developed this Parent/Guardian Survey for soliciting family input on what is working now and what may be considered for the future.
The survey seeks to involve families in an organized, ongoing and timely way in planning, review, and improvement.
The intention of this survey is not to identify individual district responses, but rather to establish an understanding of the state as a whole. The information will be aggregated by region only; therefore, families will be asked to identify the region of the state in which they live in order to understand the distribution of the survey without specifically identifying any district by name.
JCSD appreciates your support in gathering input from families in our area.

Tuckerman High School students will return to onsite learning on the Tuckerman Campus on Wednesday, September 23rd.
In an effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus within our staff and students we are asking that all parent/guardians notify our Point Of Contact nurse if a student is tested for COVID, someone in the house test Positive for COVID, or if there is someone in the house that has been exposed to a known positive case. In the event of testing of anyone in the household - students must remain at home until the results come back. Please contact Stacy Bright at 870-349-2657 ext. 210 or email information to sbright@bulldogs.k12.ar.us. This will allow us to take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

Tuckerman High School is pivoting to Blended Learning starting tomorrow September 10th and continuing thru September 18th. Tuckerman High School will be closed to students during this time, with plans to return onsite on September 21st. Tuckerman Elementary School, Tuckerman Preschool, Swifton Middle School and Swifton Preschool will remain open and school will continue as usual with onsite instruction. Although we had a low percentage of our students at THS who tested positive, they were involved in large group activities that required several students to quarantine for the next 14 days.
The IGNITE program students will be virtual tomorrow.
All extracurricular activities at THS are suspended until students return to onsite instruction. This includes but not limited too: All sports competitions and practices, Club and Organization meetings, Fundraisers, E-Sports, Cheerleading practices, etc...
Breakfast and Lunch will still be served for THS students. Any student wanting to eat breakfast or lunch please call Krystal Person at 870-217-3769 or email at krystal.person@bulldogs.k12.ar.us and place your order for the following day so they cafeteria will know how much food to prepare. The 2020-2021 Jackson County School District school year is underway and we wanted to take this opportunity to say how proud we are of the students, staff, and parents for getting the year off to a great start. Everyone is having to adjust to a unique set of challenges which have the potential to create anxiety. We are impressed with the positive attitudes and the desire to make the best of a difficult situation. As much as we would like to make it through the year without any COVID-19 cases, we all realize that is an unrealistic expectation. Therefore, we wanted to take this opportunity to explain the protocols we will use in the event we have one or more positive cases.
Should someone, student or faculty, test positive for Covid-19 we will immediately begin the process of contact tracing. Contact tracing involves determining if anyone at school qualifies as a “close contact”. A close contact is anyone who has been within six feet for more that fifteen minutes of someone who has tested positive for the virus. The school will contact the parent of any child who is determined to be a close contact. We will also contact the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) and the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to acquire their guidance in best practices to stop the spread. Please remember that in order to protect the privacy of students and staff, we cannot share personal information regarding a positive case. Therefore, we will not issue a public statement in every situation where someone has tested positive or been quarantined due to the virus.
In the event that we have multiple positive cases, it is possible that we may have to pivot to at home virtual classes. This will depend on the number of cases and could result in pivoting a single classroom, grade, building, or the entire district to at home virtual classrooms. The timeframe for this will be determined on the length of time it takes to control the spread. The district will work in conjunction with ADH and DESE to decide when to resume on campus instruction.
Let’s continue to work together to control the spread of the virus while providing a quality education for the children of JCSD.
Information regarding the levels of response, and much more, can be found on the DESE website at: http://dese.ade.arkansas.gov/divisions/communications/arkansas-ready-for-learning.
Additional information regarding symptoms of Covid-19 and strategies to avoid exposure can be found at the Arkansas Department of Health website and the CDC website at the following web addresses: https://www.healthy.arkansas.gov/programs-services/topics/novel-coronavirus https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

As announced by Governor Asa Hutchinson & Secretary of Education Johnny Key, beginning Thursday, September 3rd, ALL students will receive free breakfast and lunch until December 31st, 2020. This does not include any additional items purchased in the cafeteria.
We still must have every household complete and submit a free and reduced lunch application if you have not already done so. It is very important that we get these applications returned, as they effect the amount of other funding the school district receives.
Thank You!

In an effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus within our staff and student body we are asking all parents/guardians, of students who will be in attendance on-site, and all employees to notify our designated Point of Contact immediately when the following occurs:
* Someone in the household has tested positive for a COVID-19.
* Someone in the household has been identified as a Close Contact to a positive case of COVID-19 and is requiring quarantine and/or recommended to be tested for COVID-19.
* Student attending on-site and employees who are being tested for COVID-19. If symptomatic, student/staff should remain in quarantine pending results of their COVID-19 test.
Please call Stacy Bright at 870-349-2657, or email information to sbright@bulldogs.k12.ar.us

JCSD 2020 Graduation Guidelines and Information
Due to COVID-19 Restrictions & Guidelines, the 2020 JCSD Graduation is a ticket only event this year. Each member of the Class of 2020 received 8 tickets, due to COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines that must be upheld in the gymnasium. The 8 ticket holders will sit together in that seniors assigned section. It would be helpful if those 8 ticket holders arrived together and entered the gym together as a group.
Every guest ages 10 and over must wear a face covering. Graduates, one will be provided for you.
The gym will be open for guest at 2:00 PM.
Social distancing, between family groups, should be observed while standing in line and entering into the gym.
When you go inside the gym there will be someone to direct you to your assigned seat/section.
You are to remain seated until the end of the ceremony. At that time, Mr. Holland will call your senior's name and the family will walk and meet them at the door to go have a picture taken and exit.
The picture will be taken in the lobby. It will be a single group picture only.
Once the picture is taken you must exit out the front door.
Live Streaming will be on the JCSD Youtube channel & JCSD Facebook page. The Youtube link will be posted via all JCSD social media outlets.
Please be patient and respectful of others, let's all make this day about the Class of 2020!

Covid-19 has had a large impact on family finances. This is even more reason to complete your Free and Reduced lunch form and Technology Home Survey early. By completing these forms, you are helping families across the district. If we reach 70% free and reduced lunch forms, the district will receive additional NSLA monies and each student could potentially eat for free.
Free and Reduced lunch forms and Technology Home Survey's are available to be picked up and completed at this time. Forms are available on the District’s website: Bulldogs.k12.ar.us, in Principal’s office on each campus, and in the Administration office.
Each family that completes and returns these forms before Aug. 24th, will be entered into a random drawing for a 55" inch Smart TV!
If you have any questions or need assistance with the completion of the forms please contact Cathy Platt at Tuckerman Elementary School.

In response to COVID-19 public health emergency, a benefit program called Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) has been developed for States to implement in assisting families that were receiving free or reduced lunches from their school. The program was designed to help replace the cost of meals incurred by families as a result of the State eliminating public school gathering.
What is P-EBT?
* A program to provide nutrition benefits to families who have lost access to free or reduced-price school meals because schools were closed.
* Eligible students and families will receive food benefits on a new or existing EBT card to help fill the school meals gap.
* P-EBT is for eligible children in public and private schools.
How will P-EBT be paid? Amount to be paid?
* This will be paid in a one-time payment and will be $319 per eligible child.
* Benefits will be issued to a SNAP household on their existing EBT Card.
* If a household has had their SNAP case close in the last 6 months, benefits will be issued on that household's existing EBT Card.
* Non-SNAP households will receive an EBT Card(s) with their child's name on it. (See attached Buck Slip on instructions to activate the EBT card.)
When will P-EBT be issued?
* Benefits should be issued by the end of June or early July.
* Guidance will be forthcoming regarding the exact dates the benefits will be issued.
* New P-EBT cards that are being issued will not be all mailed on the same day, but over a period of several days.
Addresses may not be up to date for students that will be receiving the P-EBT card due to schools closing in March. Guidance below is for Parents to update their address if needed.
Non-SNAP Households:
* Parents can call Client Assistance at 1-800-482-8988.
* Parents can email their address change to pebt@dhs.arkansas.gov.
* New address changes will be recorded up to June 15th, so that the information can be sent to the vendor for card issuance.
SNAP Households:
* Parents will follow the same DCO business process that is in place by reporting their changes to Client Assistance or their local county office.
Note: Parents that do not receive SNAP and would like to verify if their address is correct should contact (call or email) their child's school district to determine if the school has the current address.

Preschool application packets may be turned in June 8th & 9th from 8:30 until 3:00 and June 10th from 8:30 to 5:00 at the elementary office.
If you need any documents copied that can be done as well.

if your child plays wee ball or tee ball and hasn’t been contacted by a coach, please call Mrs Sally Pinkerton at 870-530-4692. THIS IS NOT A NEW SIGN UP. This is for people who were already signed up this spring.

We are so excited to bring the Books & Badges program to our elementary! This program is designed to foster a love of reading through vital leaders of our community {police, fire, EMT, etc.}!
Though classrooms obviously won’t be part of the equation this year, our wonderful “badges” across the county have improvised for us! We will be posting lots of videos in the coming weeks, we hope you all enjoy them as much as we have!
Thank you so much to everyone who made this happen for our kiddos! We are so grateful!
Until next year!
